MISSION STATEMENT
» It is the mission of the Velma-Alma Public Schools to produce a self-sufficient, responsible, confident, and productive citizen working for a better tomorrow.
BELIEFS
» Learning is a cooperative effort between teachers and children. Positive attitudes and a good self-image bring better results. All children should experience success. Each child is an individual and learns at his or her own rate and method. Learning is a process that occurs in an experiential environment.
ABOUT THE SCHOOL
» In 1946 the Superintendent of Alma-District #16, and Velma-District #14, along with their respective school boards and other interested people in both communities, started the movement to form the Velma-Alma School District # 15. When first formed, Velma-Alma had a faculty of about nineteen and an enrollment of 450 students. At last count the school's enrollment was approximately 500, with 39 state-certified employees and 33 support staff.
ACCREDITATION
» Velma-Alma High School is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Oklahoma State Department of Education.
